Alibaba Cloud has reached a strategic cooperation with 01.AI, an AI company founded by Li Kaifu. The two sides will establish an "Industry Large Model Joint Laboratory" to jointly accelerate the implementation of large models from technology to application. 01.AI has reached a valuation of $1 billion just eight months after its establishment. Its open-source model Yi-34B once ranked first globally on the Hugging Face leaderboard.
This cooperation comes at a time when China's AI industry is experiencing a price war and market integration. Alibaba Cloud recently announced an 85% price cut for its AI vision inference model. Zhou Jingren, the chief technology officer of Alibaba Cloud, said that through the co-evolution of large and small models, an application ecosystem tailored to China's local needs will be created. Li Kaifu emphasized that the joint laboratory will promote the implementation of large models in fields such as finance and manufacturing, driving the outbreak of new industrial productivity.
