Apple has agreed to pay $95 million to settle a class-action lawsuit alleging that the Siri virtual assistant violated users' privacy. The lawsuit claims that Siri was accidentally activated without users' consent, recorded private conversations, and shared this data with third parties. According to the proposed settlement agreement, US users who owned Siri-enabled devices between September 17, 2014, and December 31, 2024, may be eligible for compensation, with a maximum of $20 per device. Although Apple denies any wrongdoing, the plaintiffs claim they received relevant advertisements after discussing certain products.
Apple CEO Cook Donates $1 Million Personally to Support Trump's Inauguration as Tech Giants Pay Tribute to the New Government
Tim Cook, the CEO of Apple, will donate $1 million from his personal funds to support Trump's inauguration committee as a show of unity. This move highlights the longstanding good relationship between Cook and Trump, as the two met several times during Trump's first term. Notably, Apple itself will not donate to the inauguration committee. Cook's donation is not an isolated case. Tech giants such as Amazon, Meta, Uber, and tech leaders like Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, have also donated $1 million each to Trump's inauguration committee.
